Transcript / Shot List

President Nixon with the winners of the 7th World International Bowling Federation in the Executive Office Building bowling alley.
President Nixon bowls and makes a strike.

Notes

Both the President and the First Lady were keen bowlers, and Nixon had a new single-lane bowling alley installed in an underground space under the North Portico in 1969. This footage, with its distinctive wallpaper, was not in that new bowling alley but was a two-lane bowling alley that was installed in the Old Executive Building in 1955. It, in turn, had replaced one that President Truman had had built under the West Wing in 1947.
